On Saturday the winners of the XXIII International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition Leipzig 2022 were announced. The award was given in the categories piano, harpsichord and violin/baroque violin to 18 young musicians.

GENUIN classics also selected a winner: the baroque violinist Charlotte Spruit was awarded the GENUIN special prize in addition to the first prize in the violin category. This award is associated with a CD production that will appear in the "Bach Competition" edition.

Charlotte is a keen Baroque musician, having studied the Baroque violin with Pavlo Beznosiuk, and regularly performs in Baroque ensembles and chamber music. The 21-year-old Dutch artist received her education at the Amsterdam Conservatory and at the Guidhall School of Music and Drama in London with David Takeno. She is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Ying Xue.

As a soloist, Charlotte has played with numerous orchestras, including the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Residentie Orkest The Hague, and Ensemble Esperanza. The young musician is already a multiple prize winner at many national and international competitions.
