GENUIN Produces the Soundtrack for the ARD Series "Babylon Berlin" with Järvi's Absolute Ensemble

Last week, GENUIN has joined forces with the New York-based Absolute Ensemble of Kristjan Järvi, principal conductor of the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, to record parts of the soundtrack for the new ARD series "Babylon Berlin". The new TV series is a collaboration of the film director Tom Tykwer (Cloud Atlas) together with X Filme, ARD, Sky Germany and Beta Film. Based on the bestseller series by the German author Volker Kutscher, the film dives into the world of police commissioner Gereon Rath in Berlin during the 1920s, where drugs, politics, murder, art, emancipation and extremism prevailed.

The Absolute Ensemble was founded in New York City in 1993. Among the musicians of the ensemble is the saxophonist and composer Daniel Schnyder, whose works can be heard already in two GENUIN CDs.

Other international "greats" from the classical and jazz music scene have also come together in the Absolute Ensemble:

Kristjan Järvi, Conductor
Damien Bassman & Philipp Bernhard, Percussion
Daniel Schnyder, Saxophone
Gene Pritsker, Guitar
Charles Porter, Trumpet
Mat Fieldes, Bass
Vesselin Gellev, Violin
Kristjan Randalu, Piano
Michiyo Suzuki, Clarinet
Christophe Schweizer, Trombone
Lucio Amanti, Cello
