Since its founding in 2004, the Munich Chamber Opera has stood for high-quality music theater with a unique touch. With its versions of well-known works and rarities from the operatic literature, it has earned a solid place in the cultural life of Munich in recent years. Its performances are characterized by imaginative productions that speak directly to the audience, original staging ideas, and unusual musical arrangements. The Munich opera ensemble showcases the exceptional vocal and acting abilities of its young singers, thanks to which it has become a forum for the promotion of young talent.
Along with large-scale stage works, the Chamber Opera regularly presents concerts and composer portraits featuring such well-known artist personalities as Michael Mendl, Michaela May, Christine Ostermayer, Brigitte Hobmeier, Sophie von Kessel, Sabine Sauer, Thomas Loibl, Lisa Wagner, August Zirner, Friedrich von Thun, and Gerd Anthoff. Musical highlights also include concert projects with such singers as Juliane Banse, Waltraud Meier, Robert Gambill, Günther Groissböck, Okka von der Damerau, and Daniel Behle.
