Engaging and imaginative programming is a hallmark of the Duo Ingolfsson-Stoupel. Individually, Judith Ingolfsson and Vladimir Stoupel are seasoned soloists who have won acclaim for their performances across the globe. Together they create connections, tell untold stories, and take audiences on a journey to the heart of chamber music. Their world premiere performance of the Sonata for Violin and Piano by Paul Arma at the Konzerthaus Berlin was hailed as the ‘sensation of the evening’ by Deutschlandfunk—‘there was an intensity in the performance that no one in the audience could escape’.
Their discography documents this productive and successful partnership: En Hommage—Simon Laks was released in 2010, and their recording of works by Stravinsky and Shostakovich, released in 2011, was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) in 2013. The three-CD set Concert-Centenaire, including works by Magnard, Stephan, Vierne and Fauré, was released in 2016, with the Fauré recording nominated for the ICMA the following year. 2017 saw the release of Blues, Blanc, Rouge, which includes sonatas by Ravel, Ferroud and Poulenc. This recording was nominated for the 2019 ICMA and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
The French government deemed the Duo’s project Concert-Centenaire, dedicated to composers whose lives were heavily impacted or terminated by the First World War, as ‘exceptional’ in 2014 and awarded it the official ‘Centenaire’ designation. They are co-artistic directors of Festival Aigues-Vives en Musiques in southern France, which they founded in 2009, and of The Last Rose of Summer, an end-of-summer festival in Berlin.
