The MDR-Sinfonieorchester can look back on an almost 100-year history. In addition to helping preserve the classical repertoire and especially the composers of Central Germany from Bach to Schumann, the MDR-Sinfonieorchester is dedicated to contemporary music. Its CD recordings have won several awards, including the Grand Prix du Disque and the German Record Critics’ Award. The orchestra can also be heard on the soundtrack of the Babylon Berlin TV series.
