Vogler Quartett

The Vogler Quartet is a phenomenon: the string quartet has had the same players since 1985 and, thanks to their individual and concerted abilities, have earned a place among the world’s premier chamber music ensembles. The musical culture of the quartet, which combines their ability to achieve a highly transparent tonal texture while plumbing the deepest formal structures of the works they perform has helped establish their excellent reputation on the international scene and also led to their appointment to be professors of chamber music performance at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule as the successors of the Melos Quartet. The repertoire of the Vogler Quartet extends from the classical quartet repertory by Haydn to the works of Bartók and the Second Viennese School all the way to lesser-known works and the most recent quartet writing of our times. The musicians are currently making a recording of the complete string quartets and other chamber music by Antonin Dvořák on the CPO label. In addition to its own recital series at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the quartet also regularly performs in other concert series: In 2000 the Vogler Quartet initiated an annual festival in Sligo, Ireland and in 2002 the ensemble became the music director of the Chamber Music Festival in Homburg, Germany. Since 2005 the musicians have also been responsible for the award-winning Nordhessischer Kindermusiktage in Kassel, Germany. The Vogler Quartet also works intensively in teaching, including giving master classes and workshops for professional quartets in Europe and abroad.
