Born in Elche, Spain in 1996, Elina Rubio Pentcheva, received early instruction on the violin from her mother Tania Pentcheva Boneva, and later studied with Roberto Valdés. When only nine years old, she won the San Andreu de la Barca Competition in Barcelona as well as the Hopes, Talents, Masters Competition in Dobrich, Bulgaria. She subsequently won the 2010 Szymon Goldberg International Competition in Meissen, Germany and First Prize at the International Music Competition in Benidorm, Spain as well as Third Prize at the Vasko Abajiev Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria. After attending several international master classes, since 2010 Elina Rubio has been enrolled as Saxony’s youngest student at Dresden’s
“Carl Maria von Weber” Hochschule für Musik with Prof. Igor Malinovsky. In 2012 she received a two-year scholarship grant from the Kammermusik am Hochrhein, Gailingen to pursue her studies in Dresden as well as record her debut CD for GENUIN classics. Elina Rubio can already look back on a successful start to her career on the concert podium with many performances in various countries as a soloist in chamber recitals and symphonic concerts, including a performance with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. Elina Rubio performs on an 1863 Jean Baptiste Vuillaume violin generously loaned to her by the Maggini Foundation in Switzerland. This loan was made possible by Christina Göthel-Kartini.
