Albert Osterhammer, Bass Clarinet
Born in Prien on the Chiemsee, Albert Osterhammer received early music training on the clarinet playing at the local music school in Grassau/Chiemgau, where he later also worked as a teacher. In 1985 he began studying under Gerd Starke at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München; after completing the master class he became a scholarship
holder of the Herbert-von-Karajan-Stiftung der Berliner Philharmoniker and is continuing studies with Karl Leister in Berlin. Albert Osterhammer’s first engagement was at the Opernhaus in Frankfurt am Main; since 1995 he has been bass clarinetist with the Münchner Philharmoniker. Albert Osterhammer is one of the rare universalists of the clarinet literature. High in demand as a chamber music partner, he plays rare repertoire and is constantly on the lookout for new literature for his instrument.
