Yulia Drukh, Clarinet

Yulia Drukh was born in the cultural metropolis of St. Petersburg. Her father, a composer, and her mother, a pianist, are both teachers, and her twin sister Elina is the first violinist in a string quartet. After finishing undergraduate studies in her hometown, Yulia Drukh studied with Wolfgang Meyer at the University of Music in Karlsruhe and Norbert Kaiser at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, where she graduated with honors in the soloist class in 2021.

While still a student, Yulia Drukh won numerous prizes at international music competitions in Russia, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and Italy. She was also awarded the DAAD Prize for foreign students and, together with Trio Y, is a finalist and scholarship recipient of the German Music Competition.

Since 2015, Yulia Drukh has performed with numerous German orchestras, including the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe, the Nationaltheater-Orchester Mannheim, the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, the Osnabrücker Symphonieorchester, and the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. She has played as a guest with the NDR, WDR, and SWR symphony orchestras since 2020, and works since October 2022 as solo bass clarinetist with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra.

Yulia Drukh is also active as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany and abroad, as well as a member of the ensemble Zeitlose Musik, the duo YuNiKa, the Trio Y, and the ensemble Fin de Siècle. Additionally, she participated in the foundation, organization, and realization of the Festival Zeitlose Musik in Karlsruhe. She was appointed as a teacher in the "Praxis Neue Musik" (New Music Performance) field at the HMDK Stuttgart from 2021 to 2022.

Yulia Drukh is one of the few clarinetists who has mastered the German and French systems at the same level of proficiency.
