Christoph Eß Awarded the Schuncke Prize of the Michael Schuncke Foundation

On 21/22 June 2013 Christoph Eß will be awarded the Horn Prize of the Michael Schuncke Foundation during the course of two concerts with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic. The Schuncke Archive will be honouring the solo hornist of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Christoph Eß, for his achievements in the year 2012 with the only prize for hornists presented annually. The prize will be presented to him on 21 June at the Rosengarten Beutig. He will give a concert there with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic starting at 8:00 PM.

The prize winners of the past four years were Renate Hupka (2008), Quirin Rast (2009), Robert Langbein (2010) and Andreas Pöche (2011).

Three CDs with the hornist Christoph Eß have already been issued by GENUIN. The hornist made his debut with works of Trygve Madsen in October 2012. With the horn quartet german hornsound, he recorded a opera fragment with works of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner named "Siegfried and Violetta". He can be heard in the recording of Schubert's Octet together with the Amaryllis Quartet, Markus Krusche, Daniel Mohrmann and Alexandra Hengstebeck.

Works of the Schuncke family are brought together on the CD of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic under Pavel Baleff.
