Following her highly-praised Mozart CD with GENUIN, Jennifer Lim now reveals herself to be a sensitive chamber music partner, joining with exceptional young oboist Katherine Needleman, who is making her GENUIN debut. The program features a compelling combination of some of the essential pillars of the oboe repertoire (Schumann and Poulenc) as well as an exciting rediscovery, the Suite by Pavel Haas. Katherine Needleman plays the first recording of David Ludwig’s Pleiades with particular commitment, a sonata in seven movements dedicated to her. What all of these works have in common is a message of hope, interpreted at the highest level – very highly recommended!

American Record Guide
"This is a very intimate performance, a picture of refined lyricism (...) The balance is exactly right, with Ms Lim displaying strong, capable technique and artistic perception, never overwhelming Needleman’s astonishing pianissimos. The shape and color of the softest passages is simply exquisite."
Review on the American Record Guide by Pfeil, July/August 2016

DC Metro Theater Arts
"Put an evocative melody into an expressively played oboe line, and you’re liable to hum it for the rest of the day or night. (...) It’s quite an experience to listen to."

Baltimore Sun
"The artists bring telling rubato and finely shaded phrasing to Schumann's Op. 94. They capture the mercurial spirits of David Ludwig's eventful "Pleiades: Seven Microludes for Oboe and Piano" (commissioned by Needleman), and dig vividly into the tense Suite by Pavel Haas. Francis Poulenc's bittersweet Sonata finds both players in especially eloquent form."
Review on The Baltimore Sun by Tim Smith, 20 August 2016

Wiener Zeitung
"Katherine Needleman plays the works with a clear and warm tone (...) Jennifer Lim accompanies her brilliantly. A moment of glory!"

Das Orchester
"…expressive and fiery works – under the skin going sounds..."
