Martin Schmeding (* 1975) studied organ (Church Music and Concert Exam), recorder (Music Education and Concert Exam), harpsichord, music theory, and conducting in Hannover, Amsterdam, and Düsseldorf. He received his education from U. Bremsteller, L. Rovatkay, J. v. Oortmerssen, H. v. Nieuwkoop, and J. Boyer. He won prizes at numerous national and international competitions. In 1999, he received the Culture Advancement Award of Lower Saxony. Having held positions as cantor and organist in Hannover and Düsseldorf (Neander Church), he was organist at the Dresden Kreuzirche (Church of the Cross) from 2002 to 2004. After teaching at the conservatories in Hannover, Dresden, Leipzig, and Weimar, he was offered a professorship for organ at the conservatory in Freiburg in 2004, succeeding Z. Szathmàry. He made numerous radio and CD recordings and already looks back on a very active concert and teaching career, as well as on several appearances as conductor, composer, and juror in international competitions.
